The worm is inserted via the navel and thrives on the toxin that is within the Tannot root. This acts like an immunisation against the toxin's effects. After the worm has infested a host, it will bring pain to the host unless they eat. The worm is very rare.

Immunity to the toxin, either naturally, or through the worm is illegal on Sykar and a capital offence. It is therefore vital that one infested with the worm does not reveal that they are infested and attempts to show the symptoms of a being under the influence of Tannot Root poisoning.

The worm can be removed fairly easily, although it is painful.
