Officer Karanda was a Peacekeeper pilot assigned to Aeryn Sun's unit under Captain Crais' command. After Aeryn's desertion, he and his entire unit were demoted, only to be reinstated upon Officer Sun's death.

As a result, Karanda was relegated to duties such as supervising tech work. One such assignment took place aboard the long missing Zelbinion, where Karanda oversaw Gilina Renaez's tech unit. This turned out to be his final assignment, as he was killed by the Sheyangs when they attacked and boarded the derelict vessel. ("PK Tech Girl")
