Humans were a new species in the Uncharted Territories; only one of them was known to live there. They were a bipedal species, and a fully grown and developed Human was normally between five and seven feet tall. They were of similar proportion and appearance to Sebaceans, but there were several known differences such as the bacteria colonizing their digestive tract.

The Human species had a relatively short lifespan of about eighty to ninety cycles. Another physical and biological difference from Sebaceans, and indeed other species, was their relatively poor eyesight and hearing. Vision that Humans considered to be perfect 20/20 was actually remarkably deficient by Sebacean (and other alien race) standards. In their favor, Humans seemed to be much more resistant to heat and immune to heat delirium. Humans also lacked a paraphoral nerve. They were capable of surviving at least half a minute in vacuum without sustaining lasting injuries. Humans were also known to be exceptionally resistant to the effects and processes of the Aurora Chair. This was a very uncommon trait.

Humans inhabited only one planet, their homeworld, which they called "Earth." They were the dominant species on this planet, roughly seventy percent of which was covered with water. Humans had not developed any significant space flight abilities, having only made their first forays into space in the last forty to fifty cycles before Crichton's appeared in the Territories.

Attitude from aliens[]

The Ancients from the mind of John Crichton though recognizing that the human was a good soul, saw through his eyes that most humans, if not all were paranoid creatures. And led them to a conclusion that humans were the most destructive lifeform on their planet.("A Human Reaction")

The supernatural entity known as Maldis noted that humans were "heavy breeders". ("Picture If You Will")

From Ka D'Argo experience and interaction with John Crichton, humans are exactly like Sebaceans, in that they believe themselves to be superior and that they treat the rest of sentient lifeforms like animals. ("Scratch 'N' Sniff")

After visiting Earth in person, his opinion of John's race did not change, given humanity's inherit xenophobia, calling them bigots that fight even amongst their own species. Chiana believed that the constant infighting between humans were the main reason why humanity barely left their homeworld.

John also was rather disappointed in his own race's inability to come together and ashamed of their paranoia. Even when sharing technology that he found on his travels throughout the galaxy, he knew he was only doing so to distract them from taking extreme measures as he knew that if he did not offer them anything, most likely they would make an attempt to steal it for themselves. ("Terra Firma")

According to Grunchlk, humans and Interions are a biological match, with the latter possibly being an offshoot. ("Die Me, Dichotomy")

Though Jool of the Interion race found that notion to be doubtful and if not insulting. ("Self-Inflicted Wounds - Could'a, Would'a, Should'a")

Vella when she examined Crichton, believed the human to be no different from Sebaceans, as they possess similar physical characteristics though noted that a human's brain cavity appeared to be smaller. ("What Was Lost - Sacrifice")

One observer noted that, if Humans were remembered at all, it would most likely be for the quality of their manual labor. Though admits that humans are from a backward planet full of superstitious, xenophobic morons where nothing makes sense if they didn't think of it first - and even then - it's simplistic drivel. ("A Constellation of Doubt")

Attitude toward aliens and the galaxy after the visit of Moya's crew[]

While fascinated with the existence of aliens in the galaxy and finally answering the question that "are they alone in the universe?", most Humans expressed fear and paranoia about the potential hostility of the galaxy after the Moya crew revealed that Earth had no means to defend against an alien ship's weapons and that there were many species that were hostile.

The Moya crew's comments about religion and politics also angered many Humans. The potential hybrid species created by the union between Humans and aliens triggered massive debate whether it was a benefit or threat to Humanity as a whole.

While some alien culture and behaviors were being seen as acceptable by Humans due to similarities, other cultures and behaviors unnerved many Humans. The Moya crew's physiology also struck fear in Humans as species like Ka D'Argo's could incapacitate a Human with his tongue. Since crew departure, R. Wilson Monroe, an alien alarmist, broadcasted a message of fear and suspicion, on the threat of further alien visitation, calling for stricter quarantine of future visits.

After the Moya crew destroyed the wormhole to prevent the invasion of Earth by the Scarrans, they left behind several technologies including a module from Moya, pulse weapons, and translator microbes so Humanity would have a head start to reach the stars and deal with potential alien invasion.("Bad Timing")
