Claudia Black is an Australian actress best known for her portrayal of Aeryn Sun on Farscape and Vala Mal Doran on Stargate SG-1.

Bio[]

Before landing her role on Farscape, Black appeared on a number of television programs including Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Australian-based A Country Practice. She has also appeared in the feature films Pitch Black and Queen of the Damned (in fact, filming for Pitch Black overlapped with the filming of her early episodes of Farscape). More recently her acting work has included a guest appearance on The Dresden Files, starring voice role in the Machinima series Stolen Life, and reprising her role of Vala for the Stargate SG-1 direct to DVD movies Ark of Truth and Continuum. Even more recently, she has become known for voicing the character of Chloe Frazer in the Uncharted video game series.

During the 10th and final season of Stargate SG-1, Vala graduated from recurring character to a regular. The series at this point of time starred Ben Browder as Cameron Mitchell. An episode of the 10th season, "200", played off this fact by featuring a comedy-fantasy sequence in which Vala envisioned herself as Aeryn Sun in Farscape, with Browder appearing as Stark.

Black has been nominated for six Saturn Awards, five for her role on Farscape and once for SG-1, winning one. In 2004, she was voted "#7 Hottest Scifi Babe" by Scifi WorldNet.

Personal[]

Black was married in 2004 (even putting off her honeymoon to film The Peacekeeper Wars) and had her first child in 2005. According to SG-1 co-star Michael Shanks, her second son was born in November 2007.
