Ben Browder is an actor who plays John Crichton on Farscape.

Ben Browder was born in Memphis, Tennessee. He attended Myers Park High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, earned a BS in psychology at Furman University, and then went on to study drama at Central School of Speech and Drama in London, England, where he met his wife, Francesca Buller. As of 2002, he resides in Australia, where the SciFi television series Farscape (1999) is filmed. He and Buller have two children, whose names and ages are not disclosed to the press.

After several appearances on stage, including traditional Shakespeare, Browder garnered a few minor appearances in feature films, including a small part as a rookie captain in Memphis Belle (1990) and the role of a short-lived boyfriend in A Kiss Before Dying (1991), with Sean Young and Matt Dillon. He was first widely exposed to the American and Canadian television viewing audience as the recurring character of "Sam" on the series Party of Five (1994). In 1999, the Jim Henson Company teamed with the SciFi channel to produce Farscape (1999), where Browder was cast to play the main character, American astronaut John Crichton.

During Farscape's run, Browder had the opportunity to act opposite his wife in several episodes, as she played a different character in each of the four seasons. Browder also took the unusual direction of writing several episodes of the series.

Following Farscape's cancellation, Browder appeared in the made-for-TV film Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of Charlie's Angels in which he portrayed TV icon Lee Majors (and also got to recreate several scenes from The Six Million Dollar Man). In 2005, he joined the cast of Stargate SG-1 for its final seasons, playing Lt. Colonel Cameron Mitchell. During his tenure, he was reunited with Claudia Black when she became a regular on the series, playing Vala Mal Doran, for its final season (following several guest appearances). The Farscape connection was celebrated in an episode entitled "200" which featured Black (as Vala) parodying Aeryn Sun, with Browder playing a parody of Stark. Michael Shanks, Vala's love interest in the series, took on the Crichton role in the parody. Prior to joining the series, Browder traded jokes with Black, at Shanks' expense, while recording the DVD commentary for the Farscape episode "The Locket".

In early 2010 it was announced that Browder would return to episodic TV in the CW TV series Hellcats, which chronicles the lives of college cheerleaders (he would have played a coach). However, although he appeared in the pilot episode, it was later announced that Browder will be replaced by another actor when the series proper begins.
